Precise, low energy temperature control

The cutting-edge variable air volume (VAV) systems supplied by Klima-Therm operate by varying the airflow that is delivered to a space. VAV envirotec vav have many benefits compared with constant-volume systems, including more precise air temperature control, lower energy consumption, reduced wear and envirotec vav, and lower noise. VAV systems can also provide additional passive dehumidification.

Klima-Therm offers the full range envirotec vav industry-leading Enviro-Tec products for use in both new and retrofit projects, including:

  • Single-duct system constant volume terminal, or variable volume terminal suitable for airflows of up to 4m3/sec.
  • Fan-powered parallel and series flow envirotec vav from 100 to 1,200 litres per second.
  • Low height models.
  • Factory-fitted analogue or digital controls.
  • Variable volume airflow measurement envirotec vav and retrofit valves.

ACCURATE AIRFLOW DELIVERS ENHANCED CONTROL

The whisper-quiet terminals, which meet the AHRI Standard 880 and are ETL listed, are designed to deliver air accurately throughout their entire operating range.

FORM ET130.13-NOM2 (708)In conjunction with the use of thismanual, obtain and refer to the constructionand control wiring drawingssubmitted for the specific project.PRE START-UPImproper installation, adjustment, alterations, service or maintenancecan cause injury and property damage,as well as possible voiding of factorywarranty. For assistance or additionalinformation, consult a envirotec vav contractoror an ENVIRO-TEC® representative.RECEIVING AND INSPECTING• Thoroughly examine the exterior and interior ofall units for transportation damage to the cabinet, coil, electric heat and electrical components. Interiordamage may occur without visible exteriordamage. If damage is found, immediately file aclaim with the carrier. Note the damage on thebill of lading before signing for the shipment.• Check the bill of lading to verify receipt ofindicated items (including loose items). Notifythe local ENVIRO-TEC® representative of anyshortages or items shipped in error.• Store units in a clean, dry location, envirotec vav nomore than four high, unless utilizing originalpacking.INSTALLATIONUNIT PLACEMENT AND INSTALLATION• Do not handle the unit using coil stubouts, controls, FlowStar TM probe, or damper shaft, asdamage may occur.• The installation must conform with local buildingcodes and the National Electric Code.• Locate unit in accordance with project plans.• Avoid unit contact with rigid objects such asconduit, sprinkler piping, and envirotec vav rods.• Unit location should follow SMACNA guidelineswith respect to proximity to downstream transitions,take-offs, elbows, and tees.• Suspend unit from building structure in a horizontalplane adhering to unit orientation labels.Use the support method shown on project plans. When utilizing sheet metal straps, up to 1" longscrews may be utilized to penetrate the maincasing. Do not secure hanging straps to unitappurtenances such as (but not limited to) electricheater cabinets, hot water coils, and controlenclosures. Unit may be equipped with optionalhanging brackets. Rods up to 3/8" diameter maybe utilized. Four brackets are typically providednear the unit corners. Hanger rod locations areapproximately 1 1/2" to 3" from the corner of theunit for most terminal configurations. Contact thelocal ENVIRO-TEC® representative if precisebracket locations envirotec vav required.• Do not obstruct the access panels with supportchannels or straps.CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS• Unit, including electric heat option, is ETL listedfor 0" clearance to combustibles.• Unit requires sufficient clearance to access allelectrical and control enclosures, as indicatedon the submittal drawing. Bottom casing accesspanel requires sufficient clearance to access fasteners, and to lower and slide panel horizontallyuntil clear of bottom of unit.• Unit should not make contact with the structureabove.• Line voltage and low voltage electrical enclosuresmust have adequate service and working clearancesto meet requirements of NFPA 70 (NEC) orapproval by the authority having jurisdiction.• Additional clearance requirements may be envirotec vav local codes and are the responsibilityof vava space installing contractor.JOHNSON CONTROLS 3

<strong>DUCT</strong> CONNECTIONSConnecting duct should difference between vav and vrf configured and installed inaccordance with SMACNA guidelines and local coderequirements.OutletInlet• Flexible connectors at the unit outlet are not required. The sagging membrane of these fittingscan cause turbulence and higher air velocitiesthat generate noise. The lightweight materialallows noise to breakout, which can increasesound levels in the space below.• Fasten and seal downstream duct in accordancewith project plans. Outlet construction varieswith type of heat as shown on the submittal drawing.• Inlet envirotec vav should be the same nominal size as unitinlet. Straight duct will yield the best airflow andacoustical performance. Flexible duct should notbe utilized if critically sensitive acoustical performanceis required in the space directly belowthe unit.• Slide duct over inlet collar and fasten and seal inaccordance with the project plans.ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONSObserve unit label electrical requirements beforeconnecting envirotec vav to the terminal. Electrical wiringmust comply with the current revision of the NationalElectric Code and local codes. All disconnect switchesmust be in the OFF position while making electricalpower connections. More than one disconnect maybe provided; use tag-out/lock-out procedures. Unlessotherwise specified, unit is suitable for a single pointelectrical connection utilizing copper conductors only.Disconnect switches are optional factory components.Refer to the wiring diagram(s) located within theelectrical enclosure(s) for additional information.Field installed electrical components must be mountedand wired per factory supplied wiring diagram. Factorywiring must not be altered vava vaka written approval;violation of this will void the warranty. Power sourcemust be within 10% of nameplate voltage for safe, reliable operation. If incoming voltage is 10% aboveor below nameplate voltage, contact power company tocorrect before operating terminal.Tighten all electrical connections prior to start-up.HYDRONIC CONNECTIONS (Optional)Hot water or steam heating coils require male sweatconnection. Refer to unit envirotec vav submittaldrawing for specific connection size. Use appropriatebrazing alloy for connection; BCuP-6 or equivalentis acceptable. Do not use soft solder. System wateroperating pressure must not exceed 300 PSIG.OPERATIONSTART-UPVerify all electrical wire terminations are secure priorto energizing terminal.Units with electric heat require a minimum of 0.1" w.g.downstream static pressure.Prior to start-up, the project specific control sequence /wiring diagram should be obtained and understood. Iffactory supplied analog or DDC controls are utilized, refer to the applicable Operational Manual for start-upand balancing instructions. If consignment DDC controlsare supplied, contact the project control contractor forspecific start-up and balancing information.MAINTENANCE• HWC (Optional): Inspect hot water coil periodicallyand clean fins if necessary• Electrical components are not serviceable. Faultycomponents should be replaced with ENVIRO-TEC® authorized parts to avoid conflict withETL listing.©2008 Johnson Controls, Inc. P.O.
