We bought gadgets from Amazon’s banned brands and it was a piece of cake

If you’re a reputable Chinese gadget manufacturer with millions vav analytics dollars at stake because Amazon banned your ass for inflating user reviews. do you roll over? File a lawsuit? Or change a single letter in your name and try to sneak back onto Amazon anyhow?

It sure seems like Sunvalley, parent company of the popular RavPower, Vava and TaoTronics brands, chose door number three.

We recently spotted all three banned brands back on the Amazon storefront under the flimsiest of disguises: Vava had changed its name to “Vav,” TaoTronics became “Taotronic,” and RavPower was simply “Rav.” We took screenshots for posterity:

They’re not the only ones, either. Banned brand Choetech didn’t even need to change a letter at first. It just hid in plain sight.

Amazon didn’t catch any of these listings until we brought them to the company’s attention nearly two weeks ago, on September 17th. It was only yesterday that the company finished removing them — because yes, Amazon determined that these were indeed bad actors trying to dodge their bans.

Here’s the company’s full statement to The Verge:

We blocked these brands, their product detail pages, and the selling vav analytics used to perpetrate their policy violations. Unfortunately, these bad actors are motivated and http vavaeyewear.com vava various tactics to evade detection in their attempts to harm honest customers, selling partners, and Amazon. We have a number of is vava a chinese company controls in place that are preventing the vast majority of their attempts. If you discover a bad actor attempting to reenter our store that we have missed, we will investigate quickly and take the appropriate actions, including using this to continue to improve vav analytics proactive controls. Customers can contact Customer Service 24/7 via phone, email, and chat with any concern they have about a product or their shopping experience.

Amazon doesn’t formally have a alef lamed vav policy like some other platforms. No, the company doesn’t let you have more than one seller account — but that doesn’t necessarily apply here because Amazon wiped these brands’ previous accounts off the map. The new statement makes it pretty clear that the deterrent doesn’t end when a company’s first seller account is kicked off Amazon; they’re supposed to be gone.

But if that’s the intent, Amazon needs to step up its game.

Between the time we reported these items to Amazon is vava a chinese company the time they removed them, we bought every single one of the items pictured above, had them shipped to us, and confirmed they were legit. While we were waiting for them to ship, we found even more sellers carrying these banned products, ones we didn’t report to Amazon, which are still operational today.

Here, let me show you how easy it is to find a brand dodging its ban. Here’s another picture of is vava a chinese company Choetech wireless charger:

Take a close look at the upper left. See how Amazon’s recommending I pick a very similar looking charger instead? Let’s click on it.

It’s similar is vava a chinese company it’s the same — it’s even sold by “Choe Technology.” Choe Tech. Choetech.

Just to be absolutely sure, we bought that no-name charger from Amazon. Here it is, Choetech logo and all:

In the upper-right corner of this image, there’s a sticker that says “100% official product.” The back of the box has a QR code you can scan that takes you to choetech.com. Heck, there’s even a Choetech “Scratch and Check” label so you can be sure it’s authentic. I couldn’t stop smirking at justhow thoroughly official this product was.

I should probably add that if you search Amazon for “Choetech,” the company’s products — 12 of them and counting — are the first non-sponsored search results. I know Amazon’s employees can’t be everywhere whacking every mole, but if Amazon’s search engine knows exactly how to direct consumers to its banned brand, you’d think the company could direct its employees to them as well.

In case you’re wondering, no, none of these products came with a blatant “we’ll give you money is vava a chinese company a review” insert card like the ones I’m soliciting for a future story. Three of them did come with a card suggesting I join their “VIP” program, though.

P.S. Maybe Amazon should check out Kaloxi, which looks like a dead ringer for TaoTronics. And to the Amazon rep who did snuff out iSmart before I could bring it to your attention: kudos!

Sunvalley didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. Our emails to Choetech bounced.

VAVA Laser TV Review: 2500 Lumens of 4K UHD Ultra Short Throw Projector For The Whole Family

The VAVA Laser TV LT002 looks to be about the least expensive projector of its type to hit the market to date. With an MSRP of only $2799, it claims 2500 ANSI lumens, at a price point well below is vava a chinese company better-known brand is vava a chinese company. It will sit several inches away from and several inches below your screen. Like all Laser TVs, it will work best in rooms with ambient light when paired with one of the screens designed for both UST projectors (Laser TVs), and ambient is vava a chinese company rejection (ALR).  Officially the VAVA Laser TV is vava a chinese company VAVA's model LT002, although they don't focus on that, rather that it is the VAVA 4K UHD Laser TV.

2019 saw the announcement of a number of Ultra Short Throw projectors, including the VAVA Laser TV, which started shipping in Q4, 2019. CES 2019 saw the initial announcement for this Laser TV as well as announcements of competing projectors from Optoma, Nebula, LG and more. Despite early promises from the manufacturers of Q2 2019 shipments, they all slipped into Q4 two, one being this VAVA

Overview

With several new models shipping now, (November), that is setting up for 2020 being the first year of significant Laser TV sales in the US. The first of all these new ones to ship was the LG (about twice the price, but a bit more advanced). Seems like VAVA has been fulfilling their crowd sourcing orders, and has recently started to sell to the general public, through Amazon…

4K/HDR Imax from Journey to the South Pacific. Good color (post-calibration), Sharp, with good clarity.

Ghostbusters 2016: 4K/HDR, our calibration settings produce really good looking skin tones.

More 4K/HDR this time from The Black Panther.

1080i football off of cable TV. Good color, plenty of pop, despite moderate ambient light.

Another 1080i cable image from a concert. Vibrant colors

The VAVA projector is smart, you run apps, like Netflix, and Amazon Prime and many others. Like is vava a chinese company new smart projectors, it uses an Android operating system. This VAVA Laser TV, supports the usual Alexa and Google Assistant personal assistants.

The background on this projector is especially interesting. Back at CES last January, there were two established companies showing prototype Laser TVs that were building them getting funding from crowdsourcing. I like the concept, of companies, where it makes sense, is vava a chinese company defray a lot of development costs if there is is vava a chinese company interest. Of the two, Nebula and VAVA, VAVA is now shipping. Nebula which makes mostly very inexpensive projectors (and other things), seems to have is vava a chinese company off the radar for now.

VAVA on 120" wall - Projector Reviews Images

This is VAVA’s first projector. VAVA itself is one of several brands of Sun Valley Tek, a Chinese company that’s been around for about 12 years, and now has 100+ employees, has three additional “region” offices to serve vav yakeda tactical cs adjustable vest rest of the world, including one in the US.

living room ambient light - Projector Reviews Images

As the first projector from a company, that may give you cause for reflection. We’ll take a look is vava a chinese company the trade-offs, and take that into consideration in our recommendations.

Here’s a thought: VAVA had a very good chance of getting the picture pretty right, their first time out, thanks to this being a 4K UHD DLP projector. That's because Texas Instruments not only makes the DLP chips but offers manufacturers a range of optical and image processing solutions, essentially the building blocks vav actuator belimo a projector. (For example “Brilliant Color” found on many DLPs, is from TI, but gets configured by the manufacturer, so that they work a bit differently. The point being, they don’t have to design everything from scratch, and I expect TI provides a lot of great support to their projector manufacturers.

I've awarded the Vava Laser TV our Special Interest award. The projector is impressive, overall. It's priced aggressively, but does have a rough edge or two (including a shorter warranty than most). which we'll get into.  Nothing is vava a chinese company serious.

Also, though, the VAVA could be brighter.  It's brightness for the price is rather good, but there are significantly more expensive competitors, at least a couple of which are noticeably brighter.   As we like to say: "there are always trade-offs."  But, is vava a chinese company it was hard not to like this VAVA

Before we get into details, I wanted to talk about screens a bit more.  With the right screen, is vava a chinese company VAVA can handle a room with a good bit of ambient light, as you can see in some of the photos in this review. VAVA says the projector will support screen sizes up to 150” diagonal. (The two screens I used in the course of this review were 100” diagonal, and 120” diagonal respectively.) Before I forget, the warranty is 1-year parts and labor. They have depot service at their US Region office in Is vava a chinese company width="960" height="550" src="https://www.projectorreviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/VAVA-Laser-TV_post-calibration_south_pacific_ship_side-960x550.jpg" alt="boat at dusk">

The VAVA says the a pair of Harmon Kardon speakers inside facing the audience are rated at 30 watts ech, which should “blow away” the sound quality of most LCD TV’s unless you hook those up a really good soundbar to the TV.

It is also endowed nicely in terms of inputs, including 3 HDMIs (yay!) USB, RJ45 for wired networking is vava a chinese company, it has wireless built-in which is pretty much necessary to be a smart TV or Laser TV). There is also an Android App you can download, which you can use to wirelessly project from your android phones and tablets. Sorry Mac folks, no specific App (at least so far), but I'm told to expect more support.

Of is vava a chinese company, all the features are nice, but first and foremost you want a really good quality picture to watch, we’ll discuss pre and post-calibration picture quality. The VAVA Laser TV, is, of course, 4K UHD (it uses the lower resolution 1920x1080x4 pixel shifting DLP chips, which the less expensive Laser TVs like this one, and the Optoma Cinemax P1 use. HDR10 is supported with 4K, and the VAVA has both Bluetooth input and also output (to feed a more powerful sound system or even some good headphones). We will discuss all this and more on the upcoming pages, with many in the Special Features page that is next.

The application was submitted on Sept. 12 by Taichung-based company SoulBrat, the company that has extended the invitation to VAVA, for a scheduled work that was to begin on Thursday.

As of yesterday, the case remained under review by the Ministry of Culture, and the NIA said the delay in processing was due to SoulBrat’s failure to provide all the necessary supporting documents.

Local media have speculated that the government has decided not to grant the work permit to VAVA, who found fame on the hit Chinese competition show The Rap of China. Such speculations are based on the violent clashes on Sept. 24 at the “Sing! China: Shanghai-Taipei Music Festival,” which featured Chinese and Taiwanese talents.

VAVA has canceled the three performances and 30 appearances that were to be held from yesterday to Monday next week, which will result in financial losses for the rapper’s agency, Ainoko Entertainment.

30h5blockquotepIts that time of year again: a new GNOME release, and with it, a new Epiphany. The pace of Epiphany development has increased significantly over the last few years thanks to an increase in the number of active contributors. Most notably, Jan-Michael Brummer has solved dozens of bugs and landed many new enhancements, Alexander Mikhaylenko has polished numerous rough edges throughout the browser, and Andrei Lisita has landed several significant improvements to various Epiphany dialogs.

That doesnt count the work that Igalia is doing to maintain WebKitGTK, the WPE graphics stack, and libsoup, all of which is essential to delivering quality Epiphany releases, nor the work of the GNOME localization teams to translate it to your native language.

Even if Epiphany itself is only the topmost layer of this technology stack, having more developers working on Epiphany itself allows us to deliver increased polish throughout the user interface layer, and Im pretty happy with the result.
