If business partners want to exchange business data electronically, they need to have a clear agreement to ensure they can understand each other's messages. In practice, however, it’s the dominant business partner initiating the EDI process (known as the hub) who usually dictates the standards used by all subsequent partners (the spokes). These are existing industry standards.

The following scenarios illustrate the advantage of these EDI message standards: If several people of different languages try to communicate with each other, they would need an unmanageable number of interpreters.

2 people, speaking two different languages -> 1 interpreter

3 people, speaking three different languages -> 3 interpreters

4 people, speaking 4 different languages -> 6 interpreters

n people, speaking n different languages -> n(n-1)/2 interpreters

If, on the other hand, they decided to use an international standard language, each person would need just one interpreter from their own language to and from English:

2 people, speaking 2 different languages -> 2 interpreters

3 people, speaking 3 different languages -> 3 interpreters

4 people, speaking 4 different languages -> 4 interpreters

n people, speaking n different languages -> n interpreters

Dedicated Outdoor Air Systems

What is a DOAS System?

Dedicated Outdoor Air Systems (DOAS) leverage the energy storage do i still need a vav if i setup edi of water, along with the core belief that one should only condition the minimum amount of fresh air required for any space, based on the occupancy and latent cooling requirements. As a result, a DOAS air handler conditions lower volumes of fresh air to handle all the latent cooling needs in the bulding, while all sensible cooling is done locally through a sensible cooling coil near each zone. In order to deliver and control do i still need a vav if i setup edi individualized comfort of each space, a local fan powered terminal unit in a series arrangement with an integral sensible cooling coil is commonly utilized.

DOAS offers energy saving benefits which complement the design goals of Green/LEED buildings. DOAS is gaining significant traction in the HVAC market because of its ability to offer superior ventilation performance, occupant thermal comfort, and enhanced energy savings when compared to traditional VAV systems.

Series Fan Powered with DOAS

A series FPTU with a sensible cooling coil offers one of the most versatile arrangements of achieving zone control in a DOAS system. The conditioned fresh air is brought into the primary air valve, and is controlled via the damper in response to either an occupancy thermostat, or CO2 measuring thermostat. The sensible cooling coil handles all sensible cooling in the intended zone.

The fan in the series arrangement compensates for all downstream static pressure losses, such that the DOAS air handler may be do i still need a vav if i setup edi downsized, and is not needed to overcome the pressure drop of the sensible cooling coil, nor the pressure losses of the air outlets in the space, nor drive any sort of return air induction. During night-setback, the local FPTU can maintain thermal conditions in the space, allowing the air handler to be turned off.

Due to the sensible nature of the cooling coil, the entering water temperature (EWT) is often quite high: typically in the range of 55-59°F. Psychrometrics are key - the EWT must be above the dew point of the air passing over the coil. This has a significant impact on the design of the unit, specifically in the size of the sensible cooling coil, which is required to be very large in order to offset the lessened thermal gradient between the two heat transfer fluids.

It is often desirable to place the series FPTU outside of sound sensitive spaces with supply and return ducted in, resulting in superior acoustic properties in occupied zones.  DOAS terminal units can be provided with a factory installed silencer that further reduce perceived sound levels.

DOAS series FPTU solutions are easy to install for the contractor, have quiet operation, and rely on fewer pieces of equipment when compared to other DOAS systems.

How to ensure minimum outdoor air at zone level in VAV system

How to ensure minimum outdoor air at zone level in VAV system

Drazen(Mechanical)

(OP)

Currently I am being pushed by prospective client to design VAV system for multi-zone space where there is number of conference rooms because "he has seen it working well".

I am concerned about how to ensure minimum outdoor air requirement in situation where zone peaks can occur in quire different times.

Say one of conference room's cooling load will significantly fall, while in other zones load will remain at peak. In that case system supply air will not change vava toing while in one or two zones supply volume can fall to minimum.

Velocity sensor near outdoor air damper will not help me, I believe, because if system air do i still need a vav if i setup edi will not change much, outdoor-to-total supply volume ratio will remain approximately the same, and if supply volume will be much reduced just in few zones, than these zones will not receive enough outdoor air.

Is there any way to resolve it other than demand-control-ventilation?

Cloud ready: Skip the on-prem EDI middleware

Skip the third-party external middleware between you and your EDI orders. Fusion is directly built and integrated into Dynamics 365 Business Central and Dynamics NAV for a high level of control over the handling of your EDI documents.

Historically, EDI solutions have relied on a third-party EDI tools to handle message exchange and document translation. We found that often this led to frustration, having to deal with an a second company and another piece of software. We also found that the costs to install and support the middleware, and the charges for ongoing transactions, were quite high. Fusion was born to provide a full end-to-end solution.

Fusion works in the Microsoft Business Central cloud so you don’t have to worry about running a server with middleware on-premises.

The EDIFACT and X12 format

EDIFACT is the language of EDI. It’s the international standard for electronic communication between companies, domestically and internationally.

To help send information between companies, and between countries, a standard format is used to make sure there is a clear understanding of the messages that are sent to one another. X12 was originally chartered by the American National Standards Institute in 1979. Seven years later, the United Nations chartered the internationally accepted Electronic Data Interchange for Administration, Commerce and Transport (EDIFACT) format.

Over thirty years after EDIFACT was born, it is still used by businesses around Australia. During its history it has continually evolved, with twice vava boom.orly updates until the end of 2016.
